A walk (or ride) around a hospital doesn’t mean that you have to look at your circumstances of why you’re at the hospital in the first place. While I did my fair share of walking/riding around Mayo Clinic, I can certainly understand that being in a hospital can be a nerve racking place to be (from getting your blood drawn, having a spinal tap, MRI’s, etc, and waiting for final results). And the severity/worrisome seems to increase exponentially when it’s a loved one who has to be in the hospital while you’re there for support. But artwork always seems to ease your mind.
While I recently walked through a new addition of St. Lukes hospital in my hometown of Duluth, Minnesota to look at the newly hung Walker Display system in use, I did notice the tranquil affect the art had upon me. The artwork remained unchanging and always displayed its intended character and provided that bit of sunlight to someone who had dark stormy clouds above them, or to the person who was on the job, or just a “passer by” like I was on this instance. No matter who you were that day, one thing was clear…that the art produced a positive result in each persons soul.
St. Lukes hospital will continually have different patients with different needs and the art and the mood that that art evokes will inevitably change one day too as time remains constantly changing. The Walker Display picture hanging system will make the aforementioned easy to accomplish for St. Lukes Hospital.
